Liberal Democrats, opposed the decision to use the Grand Union Canal as the boundary between the two wards. They argued in favour of retaining the existing ward boundary, which runs east of Richmond Road and south of Pierce Avenue.
The Boundary Commission said: "Our proposed boundary between Lyndon and Olton wards elicited the greatest level of response across the entire borough. More than 50 local residents, a local organisation (architecture:nw) as well as two local borough councillors and the Liberal Democrats, opposed the decision to use the Grand Union Canal as the boundary between these wards. They argued in favour of retaining the existing ward boundary, which runs east of Richmond Road and south of Pierce Avenue”.
The Liberal Democrats noted that while "the canal may represent a hard boundary, it does not make sense for the purposes of reflecting community identity" as residents in the Richmond Road area connect more with Olton than Lyndon.
Solihull and Meriden Liberal Democrats represent Liberal Democrat Members, Volunteers, Campaigners, Councillors and Candidates within the Local Authority area of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
The Local Authority area straddles three separate parliamentary constituencies - the Solihull West and Shirley constituency, the Meriden and Solihull East constituency and the two Solihull wards in the Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North constituency.
Liberal Democrats in Solihull and Meriden have a long record of action for the community, fighting hard for local residents on issues that are important to local residents.
