Councillor Kathryn Thomas
Kathryn Thomas is one of two Liberal Democrat Councillors for Lyndon Ward.
Kathryn was elected as Councillor for Lyndon ward in May 2018. She is passionate about doing the best for you and Lyndon. That’s why she’s out knocking doors all year round, and finding out what matters to you.
You told us: Crime is your top priority and there is not enough police presence in the community. The cost of living crisis is hitting hard. 75% of you indicating your weekly food shop has increased by £20+ and increased monthly fuel costs of between £20-£200+ have forced you to turn your heating down. You are struggling to access the support you need from the NHS.
Kathryn has listened and is working hard to tackle your concerns. She is an active member of the Lyndon Street and Speed Watch teams and has worked with the LEOS Police team to secure replacement PCSOs for Lyndon, in the face of a police budget deficit.
Kathryn fights to ensure those in need can access the support available to tackle the cost of living crisis. She is a regular donor to a local food bank and did a sponsored run of every street in Lyndon raising money for them. She has repeatedly spoken out about the need to increase the level of council tax relief to support those struggling the most.
The Lib Dems led the fight to prevent the closure of Solihull’s A&E Department, Ward 10 and the Ambulance Station. Kathryn personally secured an improvement plan from Hobs Moat Surgery to improve accessibility. Her support for the NHS is unwavering.
Times are tough and our country is in crisis. Kathryn Thomas has shown she can make a difference, ensuring that the Conservative-led council does not take Lyndon for granted.
