Baroness Lorely Burt, former MP for Solihull, has led the tributes to former Solihull Mayor and Lyndon ward councillor, Brian Chapple, who passed away on 6th March.

Lorely Burt spoke fondly of Brian Chapple, saying, "Brian Chapple was the kindest and loveliest man I've ever met.

"He worked hard for his constituents and also for the borough of Solihull and he was loved by everyone.

"My thoughts are with his family at this sad time"

Lyndon ward Councillor, Ade Adeyemo, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Solihull Council, also had fond memories of Brian Chapple.

He said, "We are all sad that Brian is no longer with us.  He will be sorely missed but we will also celebrate the life of our dear friend who represented the people of Lyndon ward and Solihull borough with distinction.

"Brian was a lovely man who made everyone feel welcome.  Ever since I first met Brian and his late wife, Brenda, they were always there for me with kind words of wisdom.

"Brian was also a stalwart and trailblazer for the Liberal Democrats, paving the way for the rest of us to follow.

"He served as Chair of Governors for Lyndon School, Councillor for Lyndon ward for 24 years and Mayor of Solihull from 1992-1993.  He was made an Honorary Alderman of Solihull in October 2010.

"He will be sorely missed".
