A Liberal councillor who made LGBT+ history
Sam Green was the first openly gay politician ever elected in the UK – and possibly the world.
The Local Authority area straddles three separate parliamentary constituencies - the Solihull West and Shirley constituency, the Meriden and Solihull East constituency and the two Solihull wards in the Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North constituency.
We currently hold 8 of the 51 seats on Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. For 10 years, one of the parliamentary seats in our region, Solihull, was represented by Lorely Burt.
